Drain lines are available in cast iron and polyvinyl chloride; cast iron lasts for 80 to 100 years, and PVC drain lines can last for 25 to 40 years. Well-maintained pipes will generally last longer. Regular maintenance inspections are recommended to check for hard water corrosion and other issues.
